October's Party

As I sit relaxing in my big comfy chair (with windows wide open) I relish in the sound of the wind blowing the leaves across the yards and into the street.
Though the vivid colors are fading,
the crisp sound of the leaves dancing around the yard
extend the beauty of fall in yet another way.
Do you remember making those big piles of leaves and jumping in them
over and over, till all that's left is powdery leaf fragments
It's in your hair, down your back and in your pants....remember?
~
When my kids were real young we used to pack up the kids and a couple of rakes and take them to the IBM park, a park full of large trees and billions of leafs.
Our neighborhood development was young without mature trees, so we had to go find the leaves.

Yesterday my sweet granddaughter found a mound of leaves and
naturally wanted to "Jump" in them.
We recruited Uncle Brice to join in on the fun
She kept saying, "make a big pile Uncle Brice"
Stopping to view a photo... she loves to look at herself in the camera
Helpin' to pile up the leaves
Burying uncle Brice, he's such a good sport!

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
