A mix of photography, recipes, personal thoughts, faith, and lots of family stuff, but not necessarily in that order.

Takin' it to the hoop

This post is NOT for the "faint of heart"

My husband has been playing Basket ball since he was just a boy,
in his drive way at home, and all of his school days.
In our young married life he played BB on the leagues here in town and then
as it got busier and we had our kiddo's, and well... family life took priority.
But that still didn't stop the guy!
For more years than I can count, he's been playing pick-up basketball 3 times a week
at our Recreation center,  during his lunch hour.
He's well respected by the younger generation and still holds his own!
He has some moves that leave the young guys just shaking their heads.
These guys are in it for the win.... pushing, shoving, fast-breaking and battling to score,
sometimes it doesn't "go-down" to good.
Rick has had a few minor bruises over the years, but nothing too bad over all !
Until yesterday, he made a move to take it to the hoop,
someone.... somehow tripped him up and down he want backward,
too fast for him to even remember what happened.
His head hitting the gym floor was described as sounding like someone dropped a bowling ball, Ouch!
When he tried to sit up another player who happens to be an EMT had him lay down,
someone else got a towel to wipe up the blood.

A 1 inch gash to the back of the head was the result
Heads are very vascular, so yah....they bleed

The guy who got tangled up with Rick apparently also stepped on his face...

 and L arm, Ugh!

His head is "glued" back together, yes they use something like super-glue, his neck is stiff, his bruises are tender, but he's fine....such a tough guy.
He'll be back at it again on Monday :)

I dont have to wonder where our boys get there determination from....
It starts in the driveway...a little two-on-two
