"The color of winter is in the imagination"

Winter brings solitude, time to sink into myself,
to enjoy the peace winter brings,
no beckoning to be anywhere else but home,
the silence that only renders the tick tock of the kitchen clock,
and the rare sounds of children laughing as they run down the street on a "snow day"...

It brings back childhood memories of playing all day in the snow,
back when children played with what mother earth gave them.... no batteries required!
The snow makes balls to throw, frosty comes alive, and the hills were laced with racers on toboggans.
We called it the "pasture" the perfect hill for sledding.
Sometime 5-7 of us would pile on the toboggan and down we'd go all the way to the fence,
we'd jump off and up the hill we'd trod, again and again.
Maybe that's when I began my love for winter,
what I appreciate now is different than when I was a child!
I love March snow-storms, it brings heavy blankets of fluffy snow
Last I heard we got about 9" here in NW Rochester  :)

The color of springtime is in the flowers,
the color of winter is in the imagination. ~ Terri Guillemets

The beauty I was blessed with, as I looked out my bedroom window this morning.

Not even 9" of fresh snow will hold me back from my morning coffee!

Skinny sugar-free chocolate/raspberry latte please.....extra hot!

I even wore boots.... that doesn't often happen,
still too warm for a coat, so just a light sweater would do as I ventured
out for my morning coffee  :)

Hope you all enjoy this beautiful Monday.... I know I am

  1. The thing I appreciate about you and winter is that you appreciate winter and cause me to realize I should, too. Very nice photo editing on the Caribou image and, of course, I always like a foot/shoe/boot type shot.

    1. i certainly realize that not everyone likes winter, I think I'm a minority. I like it best cuz it s-l-o-w-s me down! It's a very peaceful time of year, and I like that as well.

  2. Love your quote about the color of winter being in the imagination. Interesting that God uses the whiteness of snow aa the symbol of perfection/ cleansing.
