A mix of photography, recipes, personal thoughts, faith, and lots of family stuff, but not necessarily in that order.

Annual 4th of July gathering at Mom & Dad's

The 4th of July  = Family fun
It's our big summer gathering for the "Erickson" side, (my family)

This photo just cracked me up, I think it was suppose to be our "goofy" picture
but as you can see not everyone go the memo  :)
The big space (back right) is where I was suppose to be....too late.
The young men playing croquet
Carson loves crazy uncle Brice
But he loves his mama more..... mamma's boy, big-time
All the girls... Look close,
there will be 2 new babies joining us later this summer
My oldest nephew and his bride....expecting their first early August.
It was plenty hot enough....lingering in the shade
The dogs, Ruby (big dog) and  Major Brigs
My mom & dad with 8 of their 9 grandkids and 2 great-grandkids
We missed our Gavin this year, he was at the Dave Matthews Concert in Wisconsin.
I might see if Brice could "photo-shop" him into the picture.
It kind of bothers me when one is missing  :(

No photo's from Saturday night but we were invited out to Lake Zumbro where Rick's brother and wife keep their big trailer, we had a great time out on the boat. We dropped anchor and even did a little visiting in the water. It was so hot out and the water felt so good!
We had a yummy supper followed by a walk and later some smores to top off the evening.

Hope you all had a nice 4th of July, I'd love to hear how you spent the weekend.

  1. It was a fun day. All the left overs are gone now. So I can start cooking again. Not happy about that. I don't like to cook for two.

  2. I took your potato salad out to Brad's last night....It was so yummy. Gavin is glad he has some as well (It was hard for me not to eat his)

  3. You are right. We both had great Fourths with family. I have to remember to take a group photo. I did last year, but this year, on the weekend we gathered, the wind was sweeping across the prairie in great gusts. We actually spent the day inside the garage. Too windy to be outdoors. Sigh.

Looks like you all had a fantastic time. We have, in the past, had water Olympics and played croquet and ladder golf. Maybe next year.

  4. I was just glad it wasn't as horribly hot as last year, too hot to even go to the fireworks. This year was warm but tolerable :) To bad about the wind out there on the prairie, good thing you had the garage for a wind breaker.

  7. Looks like you all had a great time! Thanks so much for sharing your photos of your day. We had a great time on the 4th. My youngest sister and her husband hosted all of us at their home. They have been working on their backyard and it is gorgeous. I am planning a post for this week. :)

Such a great post!! Loved the photo of Carson and Brice.....gave me the giggles!!! Time spent together is so precious and, for some, comes too rarely, so these pics warm my heart. Congrats to all the Moms in your family! Little ones definitely liven up life!! Hugs, Doreen
