From the inside....looking out

This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!
Psalm 118:24

With that being said, I will be glad in this day, because the Lord has made it!
I can be glad and somewhat uncomfortable at the same time....
As most of you know.... I'm not a lover of hot & humid weather,
which defines this day to the tee!
Those of you that love summer are confused, why your might say?
Well, each of us are different, and we react differently to fluctuating temperatures
therefore we enjoy certain season's more than others.
In the summer...
My face sweats profusely (like dripping wet)....therefore no more makeup left by mid day.
Imagine trying to look nice for the day... but within hours,
makeup sweat off by noon with hair that is now limp and flat....image
It drains me of my energy
I feel yucky, lethargic
If you know me, you also know I love winter, are you confused again?
Yes I sit inside during winter and admire the beauty of the fresh snow, but in my head that's what is expected in the winter, it is more of an indoor season so that would be the normal thing to do.
I feel put together, my "face" is on, my hair has some spring to it and I love the crisp cool air when I step outside.... I'm in MY element  :)

I do "summer" better when it's mid to upper 70's. Maybe that's why I like Fall so much
I get to keep my makeup on, my hair retains some kind of volume and I feel energetic.
As long as my plants have partial shade they are pretty happy,
my Gerbera daisies, that I got for Mother's day are in their 3rd bloom....
So pretty looking out from my air-conditioned house, for which I am thankful!
Today is very hot & humid,
but I will be glad and rejoice in it...
from the inside looking out!

For me, myself & I...looking forward to this

  1. First, what is your secret to growing Gerber daisies. I have tried to grow these without success.

As for the seasons, I don't like this hot and humid weather either. But, as you may recall, I am not a big fan of winter.

    I am an autumn girl.

and I am also a big fan of Psalm 118:24, one of my favorite bible passages. I need to remember that one on days when all is not going well. Rejoice. The Lord has made this day. Thank you for the uplifting reminder.

  2. Audrey, I just think up until this week the temperature was just perfect for the flowers, I dont know if it matters or not but when a flower dies, I snip it off at the bottom of the stem, the flowers all seems to re-bloom at once, but It can go 2-3 weeks without any flowers at all.
I am probably an autumn girl as well, but still enjoy winter :) This verse is good for me, I think of it often and it reminds me to quit complaining and be glad for the day. Hope you have a great week

  3. It's been a few years since I tried to grow Gerber daisies and I think I planted them in the ground, which was probably my mistake. I always dead-head my flowers, meaning that wasn't the issue apparently. I love the look of Gerber daisies, any daisy really. You've inspired me to try growing these next year.

Yes,this week thus far has been far better than the challenges of last week. But ask me tomorrow after the son has left for Boston. :(

  10. We are pretty blessed here because we get all four seasons. I'm not a huge fan of the really hot days we have had, but I would prefer the heat over snow in May. By the end of the each season I'm ready for a change. Looking forward to getting into the routine of the fall and enjoy the colors.
