Playing nurse...

I've been a little distracted....
My Mom had Hip replacement surgery yesterday, everything went as planned and she's doing well.
See her little head peeping up behind the bed, she's up in the chair for the 2nd time today.
The next several days will be focused on mom (and dad)
I will be going to stay with them for a few days after her dismissal (playing nurse)....
Wish us well  :)

  1. Oh, Jackie, I can so relate to what your mom is experiencing as I had total right hip replacement 5 1/2 years ago. I am thankful her surgery went well and she will soon, hopefully, be free of pain. I expect already she is feeling much less pain.

You are such a good daughter to stay with your parents for a few days and "play nurse." Your mom will appreciate your care and concern more than you know, as will your dad.

Best wishes to your dear mother for a speedy recovery.

    1. Thank you Audrey. Mom had a rather new procedure where they use an anterior approach (from the front), no cutting through layers of muscles, less restrictions and faster healing time. She's moving a bit slow so I'm thinking she may need one more day in the hospital, normally it's only a 2 day stay, but I beg to differ. It's encouraging to hear when others (like yourself) benefitted from a new hip :)

    2. I've heard about this new procedure and am pleased your mom had this option. It sounds much better than the type of surgery I had. I was hospitalized for 3 1/2 days and was actually released a day early because I was doing so well. Recovery was a process and I found it difficult to be patient.

I got my mobility back minus the chronic pain. I am so pleased with the success of your mama's surgery.

  2. You are an awesome daughter! I happen to know you aren't "playing" nurse ... you are "being" a nurse, a very caring, sensitive, encouraging, helpful, empathetic nurse. Praying for a quick recovery for your mom. She's in good hands!

  5. Grandma and Grandpa are so lucky to have you! So glad everything is going well for Gran :) Hope they have her stay an extra day if needed! Thinking of you as you are a private duty nurse the next few days! You are the best! Love you!
