A mix of photography, recipes, personal thoughts, faith, and lots of family stuff, but not necessarily in that order.

Short but sweet....

Nurses have to put in for vacation wayyyyyy before summer, and way before you really know what you want to do or where you want to go. We really didn't plan anything for this summer because we knew Brice and Jen wouldn't be able to join us (baby coming) and last year we did a pretty extravagant up north vacation so we thought maybe we'd try and do an every other year family vacation.

Well as summer approached I got antsy. I had the 3rd week of June as my vacation pick and so did my daughter who is also a nurse. I started looking on line for a place not too far away that maybe we could go to for just a few days instead of a full week.

I found Island View Resort in Spicer, Mn only 3 hours from our home.
I booked it for three nights.
We missed Brice and Jen a lot and it didn't feel quite right without them there but
Jenny's due date was the same week, and rightfully so they wanted to be close to home.
So it was just the seven of us.....

All but me, outside our two bedroom cabin
Left to right, Gavin our youngest, Audrey on my hubby Rick,
then my daughter Brianna, Carson(fixin his hat) and Chris (Brianna's husband)

The grands having a mid-day snack and coloring out on the deck

Rick giving Carson a kayak ride.

Gavin soaking it all in

Audrey in her boat, she was able to paddle along propelled by her hands.
Pretty nifty, she had full control of that boat.

Grandpa and Carson.... a mutual adoration

My sweet daughter and her babies

Chris and Audrey having a moment

Playin'  ball

s'mores.... she has my heart

Sunset.... every night a beautiful show

I love making family memories with my husband, kids and grands. I look forward to many more years of adventures with my family, there is nothing better than being with the one you love!

    1. It was an ok place Audrey, the beach was less than desirable and the water was too deep right off the beach for Carson, these two things were not evident by looking at the photo's from their website. But we made due and had a fun time regardless. The setting was beautiful and we had all we needed, it was a cozy cottage, and we would have needed it to be bigger if Brice and Jen would have been there. All in all, a great vacaton :)
