A mix of photography, recipes, personal thoughts, faith, and lots of family stuff, but not necessarily in that order.

I never tire of this little treasure...

A couple of weeks ago Rick and I took a favorite road trip down near the boarder
of southern Minnesota, to the village of Lenora MN.

It's not so much the village we love to visit but the little Methodist church,
unlocked for anyone to enter at anytime.
One of my all time favorite churches...
Lenora Methodist Church, the oldest church in Fillmore county,
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
Snow had fallen and only the tracks of a few small animals could be seen around the church.
We had to push the snow away from the front door in order to enter.
Inside was familiar as we have visited many times.

As we walk into the building, there is a definite chill in the air.
The church is unheated unless a service is scheduled.
There is no running water and the only bathroom is the outhouse near the back of the property.

The "real" Christmas tree still stands from the Christmas services of 2014

Above the oil-burning lamp a bough of greens adorn the frosted window.

Total attendance of all three of the Christmas's services in December was 358.
Someone from Alaska, and Tennessee attended a service.

It's on my bucket list to attend a Christmas service at this beautiful old church.
I highly recommend a visit to this little treasure,
I never tire of it's unique and historic beauty

  2. I agree with you 110 percent. This church is a treasure and I love it, too.

I also would like to attend a Christmas Eve service there, although it would be quite a drive for us and not likely to happen. But one can dream.

    1. I know we both like this little church, I really hope to get to a Christmas service this year. They do have three different services Audrey, and actually non of them are Christmas eve. This year the services were the 20th - 21st - 23rd, so perhaps you could make one since they are actually before Christmas. :)
