Spring snow...

While we were gone, up to the North Shore
Rochester got this...

8 inches of snow.
Part of me was sad that I wasn't home to enjoy the beauty of this heavy snow fall,
because you know, I LOVE SNOW!!!

but on the other hand I couldn't be sad because of where we were at the time....
our favorite place on the Shore
 with this view.... Lake Superior

spending time with this guy!

We drove home in the sleet and snow last night and were happy to see the snow was still here,
and probably will be for a few more days.
*the farmers are rejoicing I'm sure, the moisture will be much appreciated!

I found this delightful little poem to share with my readers, there is hope  :)

Gentle Spring's around the corner,
      Waiting just to show her face
      And to bring us flowers and sunshine;
      Winter's almost run his race!
Be not, then, my friends, discouraged
      That there's cold and ice and sleet;
      For Springtime soon will be with us,
      And the flowers we will greet:
Daffodils, so bright and yellow,
      Hyacinths of varied hues,
      As they nod their heads, in gladness,
      Telling us they bring good news...
~Gertrude Tooley Buckingham, "Springtime" (1940s)

  2. Oh, my, you were driving home in that weather last evening. We had bible study last evening and the 15 mile drive back into town along a county road was treacherous.

    Sounds like you had a great winter escape with your guy. Beautiful photo of the two of you.

    1. We had a great time ! Parts of the trek from Cannon Falls down to Rochester were a little scary, but we made it home in one piece :)

  3. You were brave/determined. I skipped a quilt meeting in LaCrosse and am very glad I did. The roads iced over just as the meeting was finished and the roads home (35+ miles) are really deserted at that time!!!! Glad you had an awesome time! That area is one of our faves too!!!!!

    1. Probably smart of you to stay put and not go to Lacrosse. We did have a very nice time, it was good to get away :)

    What a fabulous view that place affords! Is that a hotel in Duluth? My husband grew up there and we're hoping to return this summer - it's been a couple years since we've been there and I love it so much!
