A mix of photography, recipes, personal thoughts, faith, and lots of family stuff, but not necessarily in that order.

Christmas memories

Ahhhhh yes, The Christmas festivities have come and gone for another year. I have posted a baZillion pictures below if you havent already seen them, take a look at our Christmas fun.
I'll give you a little recap. Satuday we went to Christmas eve service at church, It's always refreshing to be in the right frame of mind before the madness begins. After church we went to Rick's mom and dad's to have a yummy Ham dinner and then open gifts. We left there around 11:00pm. I got home and made a macaroni salad for the next day, then played, "Santa". Christmas morning I got up at 7:30 and put together our traditional egg bake for breakfast, then went back to bed to wait for the kids to get up. About 8:30 we had 3 grown kids in bed with us, ohhh how I love that. We got up and enjoyed our time together as a family, it was a bittersweet year knowing that next year Brianna wont bed jumping in out bed Christmas morning so I enjoyed every minute of having her here, the last year at home before she goes off and gets married. I guess if I have to share her with anyone, I'm glad to share her with Chris. We had fun opening our gifts and just spending time together. Chris came over a bit later and we had gift opening with him also...Fun Fun. About 12:00 We headed over to mom's for Christmas dinner and gift opening. It was fun as always, everyone was there, It's so fun still having little ones around, they are so silly and keep us laughing. I think we stayed till about 7pm and then headed home for some R&R. Jenny came over and exchanged gifts with Brice, She's such a sweetie and brings us joy every time she comes over. Chris and Brie came home from Austin (Chris's Mom's) and we all watched a movie, or at least some of us did, others...(Chriscoughchokecough) slept. Anyway it was a beautiful Christmas holiday with many memories, laughs, and love. I Cherish these times with my famiy, and feel so blessed that we all live close enough that we can all be together for Christmas. Hope you all have a great Christmas, I'll be checking your blogs for Christmas updates, so get busy and type.

Christmas is coming

Here's me and my $40.00 snowman. Yep that's right I paid 40.00 for the little bugger. Actually I would NEVER in my life pay $40.00 for that snowman but...... I had a rather generous gift certificate to the mouse from my dear husband for my birthday(in N0vember) So since it was a Gift I splearged. I had a "hay day" found all kids of pretty stuff that I otherwise would have never bought myself. It's so fun to spend other peeps money. Anyway I love my snowman and I will cherish him forever.

My santa on the reindeer was a gift from my m0m-in-law last year I really like him alot, It looks so cool sitting on my mantle. The sad part is that i knocked him over and broke an antler off. I tryed to glue it but it's not holding very good. Rick said he will try the opoxy method...I think that will work.

I'm excited that I'm almost finished shopping, just a few more straggler gifts to go.... YIP , Today Brie and I made some little yummy Christmas goodies so that was fun. Tomorrow I need to start the wrapping.

Hope you all recognize the most special gift of all this Christmas........ "Jesus"

Shopping fun

Oh what a fun day I had today. Well, after this morning it was fun anyway. When I went to the post office to buy stamps for my Christmas cards, I pulled in the parking lot and saw a line of peeps that was backed out the door to the outside. Luckily the line moved pretty fast. Then once I got inside the building they had opened up a line for Stamps only.....Yes, That was good news for me since I only need to buy stamps.
The most fun was Christmas shopping with Rick, We went to the mall and accomplished alot. We got to see Cindy hard at work, but didnt get to chat cuz she was working like a wild women selling those crystals. Hope you had a good day girlfriend.
Now I need to go and sort through all the things I've bought and decide who I still need to buy thing for. I try to stay organized, but things sometimes get out of hand.
I think I'll be dong a little Christmas baking tonight, I gotta do it while I'm in the mood, so that would be tonight. Well I guess that's it for now. Hope you all stay warm, it's alittle chilly out there, Brrrrrrrrrrr

Winter Wonderland

We got some snow and it's just beautiful. Gavin, Brianna and Chris have been out playing in it. I made them stand still for a minute so I could take this picture. They are running around like a bunch of wild hoolagins. I worked today so I missed watching the snow fall, that's always so pretty.
Stay safe everyone, enjoy the snow.......I will :)

Warm and Toasty

I love my fireplace after the sun goes down and I've become a freezing icecube (but I still love winter)
Gavin, Rick and I just returned from Narnia. I really enjoyed it and i pretty much bit off any remnants of finger nails that I might have had before the movie. You might say the movie has alot of suspence.
I had a lovely weekend. Friday and Saturday we watched Gavin play in his first Basketball games of the season. We wont talk about how the games turned out. Lets just say the boys need some work. Good job gavin, you done good :)
Saturday evening we had our annual Hemmer family Progressive dinner. It was fun as always, with lots of good food. It was a little sad that Ryan and Brice weren't there, we really missed them. Brianna came home from college and Chris was able to join us...YIP, we ate lots of good food. Today we went to church and then to the mall for lunch. Holly and Jake came to our church and then to the mall and had lunch with us. Brianna had to go back to school for a day, she'll be back on Tuesday for about a month...cant wait. Now it's bed time, I'm tired but nice and warm from the fire. Hope you all have a lovely week. All you school buddies, good luck on your finals....I'll be praying for ya'alls.

The stocking were hung by the "Shelf" with care.

Ok, So it's been awhile since my last blog. I've been very busy procrastination. Yes that's right. Since last year I suddenly have some kind of disorder. Here are my symptoms.
  • I dont want to decorate for Christmas.
  • I really DO want to decorate for Christmas.
  • I can't get motivated to decorate.
  • I really need to decorate.
  • I Love it when my house is decorated, just dont want to do it.
  • I'd rather shop and have coffee with friends
  • I'd rather go to china star and sip on some egg-drop soup while reading my book.

No need to hurry I have one full day left after tonight to finish decorating......OH, I forgot, The day I have left i have to go to work for 10 hours, then after work I immediatley go to Gavin's BB game, then after the Game we go right to an open house for friends of ours. So that gets me home about 10pm. OH OH there goes my one day to finish decorating AND cleaning. Did I forget to mention that I also need to clean the entire house, which happens to be a "pig hole" right now. So now I have Saturday to really finish my house before the Progressive dinner starts at 5:00. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

When It's all done I will breath a sigh of relief and be sooooo happy it's done, I will then officially be in the Christmas spirit.

I LOVE CHRISTMAS. Yeah for Jesus YIP YIP

OK...now I need to go and start on the kitchen. I have about 2 hours to get it done. It will take me that long. I dont even want to talk about the bathrooms....blah

My weekend

Oh Hello you all. I had a lovely weekend and thought I should share it all with you. I know how much you LOVE hearing about my life, afterall it is sooooooo exciting :)
Well.....lets see.
  • Friday: Brice came home so he could go to Gramps and work on a project in his shop. Oh, he had a splendid time with his grandpa and the project turned out great. Friday night Grandpa and Gran took the boys out to supper. Rick and I went to the Wadum's Christmas party. We had a blast as we always do, There are some pretty wild character's that come to the party every year. We definatley get some great laughs.

  • Saturday: We got the boys up in the morning and chatted for awhile and then Rick and I took off to the Cities. Our first stop was a restraunt called Q-cumber's. It's one of my favorite places to eat and I wanted Rick to enjoy it too. We stuffed ourselves and headed to Maple Grove....My favorite place to shop. Rick was such a good sport to hang in there with me, there's not many "guy" shops in that specific area, but it was fun anyway. It's a shopping area that looks like a little town with the brick sidewalks and cute little streetlights. There is Christmas music being piped outside and there is an outdoor fire pit, so you can stop and warm up by the fire, as you shop between stores. There was a nice fluffy snow fall, and the temperature was mild. We felt like we were in a Norman Rockwell scene. It was now 7:15pm and I really wanted to take Rick to eat supper at another favorite restraunt right in Maple Grove called, "Granite City". We were really still stuffed from lunch and it was an hour wait to be seated, so we opted to skip it this time and just go to Culver's and split a meal. Yea for Culv's. We got to My sister Jodi's house around 8:00. rick and I played games with our Niece and Nephew, They are so cute and we had fun playing with them. After they went to bed us adults hung out and chatted.

  • Sunday We left my Sister's house and headed to St.Paul to pick up Brice and go to his church in Lino Lake. All I can say is.....WOW We were able to attend the first service of their brand new "mega church" The worship band is amazing, the church is huge, and the minister was pretty cool. After church we ate a little pizza place over by Brice's place, it was soooooo yummy. We got to Brice's apartment and I asked him if I could do the dishes for them. WELL........ He didnt hesitate to say, "i guess" (with a little shrug of the shoulder). I enjoyed helping him out. Rick and him watched the Vikings for awhile then we left for home. It was fun spending time with our boy. We got home and just hung out the rest of the night. Gavin survived without us and Chris was so nice to hang with him while we were gone. Thanks Mr. Chris :)

  • anywho..... That's pretty much my weekend. It was a great time and I wanna do it again. :)

I live in Minnesoooota, therefor I love snow.

Ahhhhhh, Fresh snow with great big flakes, it is sooooooooooooooooo awesome. I can just see my big Bro, Rick running out and making a snow angel, yah he would do that. I love that the driveway is still not cleaned off in this picture, I think we got a couple inches over night. whoot.
and Jamey........ you need to repeat after me, "I Live in Minnesota, therefor I love snow".

Thought I would take a picture of our street and show you how beautiful it is after it snows. Yes, the snow is more exciting to me than you could eva know. As you can see in the picture, it's about dusk and the street lights are on. The big billowy clouds are so soft looking and still so bright in the sky. The neighbors are out watching their kids skate on the rink That Rick made.

Ahhhhhhhhh I cant stand it...... I gotta tell you the truth, That's not our neighborhood street, It's part of Brice's snow village in his room. BUT........ If I could choose my oun street, THIS would be the one. Thanks for playing along with me, I really like snow and we got some....yip. And what makes it even more fun it that Rick and I have our first Christmas party to go to tomorow night, It's at our friend's the Wadum's and it's a blast. First we have this incredible meal and then we play this "white reindeer" game where we exchange goofy gifts and then try to steal them from each other. It's just good ole' fun :)

Well I might have to go out and play in the snow.......
