A mix of photography, recipes, personal thoughts, faith, and lots of family stuff, but not necessarily in that order.

Family fun at the cabin, this time with teenagers in the mix.

Rick and I love having people up to the cabin, sharing in what we've been blessed with.
This weekend we enjoyed having my sisters family....

Spending time with my sister's family at the cabin is always fun.

Teenagers in the mix gives it a new dimension.
They are eager to be moving and grooving on the lake
i.e. skiing, tubing, wake boarding and jet skiing

But we found plenty of time to just "chill",
mostly on the dock...
talking, fishing and joking around.

Nephew Sam, hanging out on our new airbed.

Our niece Jensen feeling sorry for the little sun fish she caught,
she always fed them a piece of corn before throwing them back in the lake....sweet girl!

Me and my sister, so glad we have this time together.

Never to big to snuggle

My Brother-in-law Darin, surprised the kids and rented a jet ski for the day.

Our annual girls trip into town to shop and
stop at the "Minnesoda Fountain" for a yummy Malt.
Jensen got the cherry

My sister having some quiet time, reading on the dock.

Love this photo that my niece Jensen took.
She went out to talk with the loons and had some serious close-up time.

Our first night got pretty wild playing games
So much laughter!!!

Jensen and her Dad.... morning on the dock.
Getting ready to kayak
Uncle Rick makes sure she gets a good start.

 Sam and his new wake-board.
It was fun watching him learn to use it.... kind of like snowboarding I'm told  :)

It's hard to see the summer going by so fast! August already... but still a good 10 weeks to enjoy our cabin.  Looking forward to more visits and fun, before the end of the season.

When I look straight up...

Ever heard someone say," the lake is like glass"?
This morning the lake is like glass, as it seems to be most mornings.
I wish you could see and hear my morning as I sit on my dock,
Loons calling, birds chirping, a peace and stillness that is just part of early morning here at the lake.
Yesterday morning a little later in the morning .

Yesterday we had a Work day at the cabin.
(We don't mind work days, it's actually kind of fun)
Rick worked on a shoreline project
I mowed, trimmed and cut back the front bushes.

then sometimes I just sit and look straight up...
None of this is getting old to me guys, yep we are still pinching ourselves.

Then there's fishing, mostly off the dock, and occasionally with John on his boat.
itty bitty, but still fun to catch these little bass,
I don't even have to take them off the hook  :)

My sis and her family are coming up this weekend, cant wait....more to come on that.

Hemmer Cabin vacation 2017 Part #1

This is the second full season owning our cabin on Long lake in Northern Minnesota.
We have a lot of history on this lake spanning 3 generations.
Rick and I are just so thankful and blessed to have this little cabin on the lake.

We recently spent time with out kids and grand kids during our 2nd annual
Hemmer family vacation at the cabin.
I have many photo's to share and 2 blog posts to cover it all.

Enjoy....
Our DIL Jenny, hanging out by the water

Love this photo of Jenny & Brie on the kitchen floor with their girls

Lewin loves to hear Uncle Gavin play

This year the county fair was going on during our week at the cabin...
The best part was the made-fresh French fries homegrown right here in Park rapids

 Riding in the "cars"

Lewin had a bath in the kitchen sink, all fresh and clean!

After the kids are in bed...we play games.  (Akward poses)

 Love these three

Down town Park Rapids is the best.... we always have a day in town to browse the stores
 and visit the candy store.

Everyone helps, with meals and clean up
This night was Brianna and her daddy.

Playing with barbies in the water

Saying goodbye is the hardest, this year uncle Gavin went first.

Be sure to look down below for my 2nd post or click here to see how much fun we have
on the beach and in water.

Hemmer Cabin vacation 2017 Part #2 "Activites on the lake"

We spend a lot of time on the lake here at the cabin.
The kids love swimming and playing in the sand!
We have a lovely beach and lots of sand toys so they could play for hours and hours.

"Fishing with Grandma" is another thing that I especially love to do with my grands
I love to teach them to be patient for the bite.
They are good listeners and had some luck this year.
Even little Scarlett caught a sunny.

I love this little squatter.... He caught 2 fish his last morning at the cabin.

Then there's just plain goofing off by young and old(er)

Audrey jumping off the end of the dock.

Lewin's fist summer at the cabin, he loves hanging out with Grandpa.

 Sweet Scarlett
