We kept busy this weekend

It was a fun weekend filled with family and lots of fun.

Saturday was Carson's 5th birthday party,

it was a beautiful day so of course the guys played a little basketball out in the driveway. 

Carson is playing with his two uncles and dad... He held his own.

It's like Christmas in June. 

Carson's so easy to buy for, some of his favorite things are, 

legos, games, cars, tracks and magnet building sets. 

He even got a "cars" cake.

Little Lew was getting sleepy so Grandpa Rick swang him to sleep.

Lew likes to sleep with his hand sunder his head....love this!

On Sunday the troops all came to our house for dinner and fun.

It's not often we get everyone here on Father's Day so it was extra special for Rick.

We had a deck full!

A full heart.....

Those of you who are grandparent, you know the feeling well.

There is nothing like it... those grand babies just rock my heart.

Relaxing next to my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter Scarlett,

unprovoked she puts her hand in mine, sharing her "My little kitty" figures. 

We started our Saturday off by watching our oldest Audrey play in her last BB game of the season.

 

We have loved watching her being excited about this game, She loves that her daddy is the coach.

This is such a wonderful way to start them out, it's called Champion Basketball, It's a Christian-based league that promotes fun, and learning the game without all the pressure and stress of "winning". They do not keep score at this level, they cannot steal or block the ball and they can even travel a little bit... in other word the kids learn to love the sport first, they get to handle the ball without some one in their face...that will come all too soon as they get in the bigger leagues. I also love that they have half-time devotions, they teach about perseverance, patience and positivity.

Our twin cities grands (and their parents) came for a visit, It was so good to get baby snuggles from our littlest Lewin who is just 4 months old.

Everyone gathered at our house Saturday afternoon

We had a girl-cousin sleep over, it's so fun to see these two little ones bond, 

they are just over 5 years apart.

 This was Saturday morning.... 6:50am, "move over grandma....

They were both so excited to sleep at Grandma and Grandpa's house. 

A little Sunday outing to the Library then a look at the River. Of course there had to be rock throwing into the river...that's the best part.

My sweet baby Lewin... so hard to see them go home,  he is the sweetest and growing way too fast.

It always does my heart good to have my kids and grand babies around especially when they are all together in one spot. I love seeing our family grow and watching my kids with their own... 

just nothing like it.

Notice the detail... Redwing part 2

Large, colorful, many angles, details & intricate workmanship. 

Just a few adjectives to describe some of the most beautiful homes I've ever seen. 

Oh how I would have love to go inside and explore  these spectacular homes in Redwing, Mn.

I noticed many different materials used to construct each home.

 Red Brick, The windows are trimmed out in red. Sculptured arches run along the porch. 

Domed details around each of the window and a crazy roofline 

I wonder how many rooms and in this one?

 I love the color pallet of this little beauty and the detail over the front stoop. 

Oh, and that tiny upper window....cute!

 I believe this is a bed & breakfast. The sign in front reads, Moonlight Inn. 

Made of stone, and trimmed in purple. It certainly catches your eye!  

I love the big porch and that little tiny round window up top.

 This might just be my favorite. So unique, simple and wonderful. 

The upper half sided with shakes gives it dimension.

 I also noticed the little brick chimney peaking over the roof top.

So many lines that go every-which-way. The pops of color, checkerboard detail, 

and the little dormer window at the top....there's a pattern here, I love those little windows.

As we explored the old city of Redwing we also noticed the hills...lots of hills!

 I wouldn't want to try to get up this one in scow and ice.

Redwing is a beautiful Rivertown with plenty of parks, hiking & shopping There is beauty all around! If you haven't been there, you should.

Sunday was the perfect day to grab the grands and take em sledding

Rick and I are blessed to be healthy and able to "keep up" with this energetic 7 and 4 year old!

We love being able to play with them, to be involved in their lives and love on them.

I'll admit, Rick does most of the "work", while I supervise and take photo's

I will say though that I was the first one down the hill with Carson in my lap.

We chose a hill close to our house that was steep enough to really get you going,

 but not too long that it took forever to get back up!

Looking forward to loving-on our other two grand babies next weekend!

 Our little climber Audrey found a nearby hill and scaled it in no time. 

She put a few tokens on top to "mark" her territory.

 Horrible quality....only had my cell phone, but it doesn't mask the joy in this little boys face

Carson had a blast, he could have gone all day!
