More Family visit "Hemmers Haven" our cabin at the lake.

 Mid August, 

Following my sister's visit... came more family.

 We love hosting (there's a story behind that)

Some of our favorite people in the whole wide world.

Uncle Wayne and Aunt Jo Anne

They have ALOT of history at this lake and the resort that used to include our cabin!

They honeymooned at "Hawkeye Haven" which we now lovingly refer to as "Hemmer's Haven". 

The cabin they stayed in has been removed but they point to the place it used to be 

as we reminisce on the deck! 

They also vacationed here years ago with their young family and Wayne's parents, 

(ricks grandparents)

They have made the trip to our cabin several times over the last 10 years, from AZ and TX

We saw the loons and some eagles flying into their nest.

Uncle Wayne is probably telling Rick where to catch the biggest fish :)

We had a nice brunch to celebrate Aunt Jo Anne's birthday.

 Cabin visits with Wayne and Jo Anne always feels like such a blessing as they never commit to the next year! The same goes for Judy, we hope she will be here next year as well, and with Judy, comes Janice....It's all good :)

Welcoming friends/family to the cabin

Rick and I enjoy hosting friends at the cabin! 

Sometimes because of crazy schedules and timing things can get busy, 

but we find that it's not a lot of work, because our friends and family make it easy, 

they all chip in and help with meals and cleanup. 

There is plenty of visiting and making new memories...which is good

I have a Cabin Journal, it's fun to write down my thoughts! 

Included are many blessings, joys, good times but then there are some things we wish 

had never happened (Carson's diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes) 

I keep track of visits, things we do, purchases, events and pretty much anything I think is important to remember.

This week was a busy one with thee different groups of friends and family.

First came the Wadum's & Godsey's 

We go wayyyyy back with these dear friends.

Next came Brad and Julie, Rick's brother and his wife.

We love having them!

Caught my first bass off the dock for this year....Finally!

Next Came Rick Uncle Wayne and Aunt JoAnne form Arizona

We spent a 1 1/2 days with them then left to go back to Rochester for the 4th celebrations.

Wayne and JoAnne get to stay the whole week. It will be nice for them to get a little R&R.

This guy has been catching bass off the dock and sharing photo's, he's making me jealous.

Wayne can you leave your lure, or at least leave a few fish in the lake for me.

Next week we look forward to having our kids and grandkids with us at the cabin. 

It will be busy again, but oh our hearts with be full! 

Cant wait.

A different kind of Father's Day...

Rick and I are just home from a lovely extended weekend at the cabin.

It was a very special weekend, not only because it was Father's Day, 

but because Rick got to spend it with his dad, who is 83.

It was so sweet to watch them go off together.

 We did a lot of just sitting and talking, and spent about 80% of the time outside.  

Rick's mom and dad are "Inside" people but they were troopers and seemed to enjoy this quiet, peaceful setting. No TV, no radio, just God's beautiful back drop... 

and boy did He show us some beauty!

 We all sat on the dock Saturday night until 10pm watching the sky, it was like an interactive painting, the clouds changing shapes and colors more vivid then I've ever seen.

 Rick and I took the boat out one afternoon and when we came back 

we found his mom and dad sitting on the swing waiting for us. 

Rick's mom kept saying, "I cant believe how beautiful it is here, and how quiet it is". 

She loved the sound of the tall pine trees as they waved in the wind.

 You have to understand, Rick's mom lives with Chronic pain among other issues and really

 doesn't leave the house much anymore, so this is a BIG deal!

 I decided to set a puzzle out.

 They loved working on it late at night and early in the morning.

It's a very challenging puzzle, I'm hoping we can finish it next week

 when we are back up with our kids :)

 Our last night we got to witness the beautiful full moon on the 1st day of summer, 

It's been 75 years since this has happened.... 

It was breathtaking over the lake.
