Our "baller"...

Sports and  our family go wayyyy back!
Our parents were involved in sports,
Rick and I were 3 sport athlete's,
and all 3 of our kids were active in sports.
Gavin still plays, only now it's just for city league teams.
He keep his name, which he was dubbed in high school...
"Hemmer Time"

 Still just as competitive...

aint nobody else gettin' this rebound!

and if you dont stay on him, this is what happens...

Watch the guy in blue towards the top of the movie,
it happens fast so dont blink  :)

This one will never cease to amaze me...

Music comes easy.... he doesnt read music but he hears it..then plays it!
5 minutes after he watched the YOU TUBE video he sat down and played a part of
Eric Clapton's, Layla
~
Gavin struggles with acedemics. Although when "tested" he ranks right up there in the top 25%
~
Some of it is... he doesnt like school, never really has. Math, English, reading...It's not his thing.
He's talked about teaching... but how do you "teach" when you have to do college first?
Gavin would be a good teacher!
~
His doctor told us, "he learns different than how they teach him in school"
Therefore he has always struggled....right through his first year of college.
~
What Gavin does love, and is very gifted at it is....
Music & Sports
Gavin struggles with Focus, organization, and overlooks details ....even in sports, the thing he loves most.
~
But he does ok.... and we're proud of him
and know God sees the BIG picture and has a perfect plan for Gavin

Staying busy

Life is good

Audrey having a little nap at grandma's today
*
Things are coming along in the Graduation department. I continue to pick away at Gaivn's scrapbook, although there is a certain little someone that I'd rather
hold and hang out with than work on the scrapbook.
Today I cleaned the refrigerator, did some laundry, got groceries, watered the lawn, and many other things which I wont bore you with. Tomorrow we are having the "throwing team" over for a cookout. It's apparently a tradition for the captian to have a post season bash. It will be fun, I'm looking forward to having the guys over.

Monday night we went to the Track team picnic (the entire boys team). Gavin and Tyler both were voted "most valuable". They are the top two throwers in the city (Gavin-discus, Tyler-Shotput). I'm so proud of myself for chopping off Gavin's trophy in the picture...brillant!You'd think I've never taken a picture before. Drats !
Today Gavin and I had lunch with Audrey and Brie, then we headed over to
Target for a little shopping.
Tonight I finished the potato salad for the party tomorrow night, paid the bills, balanced the checkbook and mustered up enough enery to update one blog, so there you go.
Now I must call it a day and go to bed...tomorrow's another busy day :)

well yah...I know I got a separate blog for my "gramma stuff", but you gotta cut me some slack, This little girl is worth bloggin' about on ALL my blogs ! http://granmum.blogspot.com/

Brie and Chris met us at Quizno's for lunch today. Audrey was so well behaved, she slept through it all.

*
After we ate, Grandpa and Gramma had a little snuggle time!

****

Then changing gears a little Rick and I traveled up to Lakeville South to Watch Gavin throw. It was well worth it because Gavin threw his best ever in Shotput 41.5 inches (welcome to the 40 ft club Gavin) and he threw his best Discus of the year 130.8 Whoop whoop, way to go Gavin.

Getting ready to throw

What a great day for a track meet.
We traveled to Austin for a 9 team invitational.
*

Gavin threw shot well, but not good enough to make it into the finals.....

He did qualify for finals in Discus and placed 5th,
He really had a good meet and as usual we are proud.

Senior "Throwing team" Tyler, Jay, Andrew and Gavin.
*****
My other two "Loves"...Rick and cemeteries.
Since we were already in Austin we knew we werent far from the "Chandler" family plot. It's out in the country on a little dirt road in no-where land. Rick has really taken an interest in his family tree and is having a great time putting names to the grave stones. Many years ago he was actually a pall bearer for his Great Grandma (jensen) Chandler so we revisted her grave as well. Gavins middle name is Chandler, we wanted to use a family name and liked the sound of it.

Rick is checking out the tombstone of his Great great great Grandpa "Welcome Chandler" and next to him is Rick's Great Great Grandpa "David Chandler".
