Watery Grave

Last week I had an unfortunate thing happen.....

my faithful Canon "point & shoot" fell into the toilet

I snatched it out of the water (as soon as I could) but it wasn't soon enough.

Ugh....I drowned my camera, sad day!

*note to self- another reason not to keep your camera in your back pocket!

Yes, I still have my main man, Mr. Sony 

but I still like to have that smaller camera for those times when

 I don't want to lug along my big camera

So I did a little research and read some reviews and

 ended up with this new little guy

 It's the big brother of my other canon, a step up with a few new features. 

I have to admit, before I settled on the Canon, I got talked into another leading brand. I brought it home and immediately despised it, everything just seemed wrong!  I think it's all about what you're used to. So I'm happy with my Canon and I once again feel complete  :) 

 On a side note.....

Some of you know that I'm not one to wear a coat in the winter, especially when just 

running from the house to the garage, into a store and back again. 

So I thought I would post this picture from this morning,

 while I was sitting at Caribou.

It's a beauty

Finally...

After waiting 38 days, I finally have a camera.

"A camera", I say because it's a brand new, high tech upgrade from my

other camera that I took in for LCD screen repair over a month ago.

There was some issues with "SONY" and Best Buy did an ok job with follow up on the delays but it wasn't until the "squeaky wheel" (me) got Squeaky that things started happening.

The 2nd time I went into the store to speak with the "geek squad", I had to bring my patient, kind, understanding husband in fear of what might come out of my mouth in anger. Without going into great detail, another week passed before I was able to claim my new camera.

I was granted an upgrade (which is an amazing upgrade) and not made to pay the $200.00 difference in price....Nice

So far all I've done is charge the battery and put the strap on, well Rick put the strap on, thanks honey. I've done alot of reading on the reviews of this camera and have found that it's well liked with many more "pro's" than "con's". It sounds amazing I only hope I can

figure out how to use it to it's full capabilities.

I do not learn by reading...I''m a do'er, so I better get doing.....

I look forward to posting pictures as I learn to use my new toy.

Can you tell I'm excited :)

In for repair

THIS...

...is what a cracked LCD screen looks like on my $600+ camera.

The camera that is with me at all times,

that is ready to snap a shot at any given moment.

I'm kinda attached to this guy, so a cracked screen means repairs are in order.

I dont usually fall prey to the sales pitch of

"how would you like to purchase our extended warranty"?

But in 2008... I did, knowing full well that this camera would be, shall we say, used alot.

In the heat, in the extreme cold, hiking on mountain tops, in canoes, vacations, chasing after children, (camera in hand) and outings of all kinds.

Two cracked screens later.... (most recently yesterday)

I'm glad I have the "black tie" protection plan.

The extra investment was soooooo worth it. So I will cart myself over to Best-buy today to send my little camera in for repairs. Until It returns I will resort to my compact Cannon powershot, which I might say has served me quite well over the years.

I love it when things work out for the good.

For Christmas my sweet husband Rick gave me two good books to equipt me with

photography know-how.

(In November he gave me a new Sony Camera)

I'm really good at using it in "Automatic mode", but I would like to learn how to use it in different lighting situations etc.

So with a few short lessons from my little Photographer, Brice, I tried a few things today in low lighting. I don't pretend to have anything mastered yet but with some practice I might actually get the hang of it.
