A mix of photography, recipes, personal thoughts, faith, and lots of family stuff, but not necessarily in that order.

Fall get-away to the North Shore - Lutsen

Rick and I used to always travel to the North Shore (Lake Superior) every fall UNTIL.....
We purchased our cabin 11 years ago.
It's not that we couldnt go, but there is a lot of beauty right there at the cabin,
and plenty to do to get ready to close for the season, so we've always stayed close...
Until this year, we decided to take a 3 day hiatus from our cabin and go explore
the Lutsen area, a favorite of ours.

We decided to hike Temperance River State park one day, then Caribou Falls just down the road

In two days we logged 18,000 steps, It was so fun and beautiful!

The colors were at peak!
I've always wanted to ride the Gondola at Lutsen Mountain, a popular Ski resort in the winter.
So we did.... it's was breathtaking
The Gondola took us across to Moose mountain... here's a view from the top.
All the colors! A lot of the "reds" fell off due to rain and wind a few day before we got there.
More trails and hiking
Lake Superior is so amazing and majestic

Leaves as big as my head

We explored Black Beach, can you find Rick?
We walked the trail from our Airbnb down Lake Superior,
this is looking back at the units where we stayed.

We enjoyed our little get-away and I think we will make it a priority again every fall.
The cabin will be ok without us for a few days
