My week, Job update

So... I thought I might give you an update on my new job and how things are going. I just finished week 5 of orientation. I'm learning more every day and things are finally starting to come together....well, sort of. I still have tons to learn, but it's definatley better :)

Wenesday morning I had to be at work at 6:00 am to hang out with the "board nurse" as they call it. He/She is sort of the heart of the unit. I wont go into details but they kind of make sure everything is running smoothly. They are also the one who gets yelled at and have people coming at them from all directions. It's a hot seat of sorts.

Thursday I spent the day with an old ER co worker that doesnt like to have orientees. I kind of assigned myself to her by mistake thinking it was another nurse with the same name. By the time I figured out what I had done she was walking in the door and someone was saying, "your with Jackie today" Now I was stuck and kind of worried that it wasnt gonna be a good day. Well it ended up that she was a great teacher, she exibited great patience with me and offered a plethera of information and helpful tips. So I was actually very pleased at the end of the day. She even trusted me enough to take off and leave me alone in the room to manage the case....yikes It's kinda scarey being left alone.

The rest of the week I was with another old ER buddy that I just have soooooo much fun with. We were actually very giddy, and were looked at as kind of "trouble makers" even though we werent causing any trouble. Both of us are very sweet and innocent to say the least. She also started leaving me alone in the procedure rooms to fend for myself. I think there was a conspiracy.

Today was a wonderful day BECAUSE...... My boss told me that he was gonna let me go down in hours (just 3 days a week) starting in June. Originally he told me I would have to wait till Fall. YIP YIP. I did a little dance and let out a yelp.....Can you tell, I'm very excited :)
Also today I got to go home an hour early which was lovely, I like going home early.

Brice came home for a short visit, he wanted to gt his bike and he said he just needed to take a ride, so down he came. We went over to noodles and had a little lunch. We had a nice little chat, and then he was off again. I'm glad to spend anytime I can get with him, even if it's only an hour. I miss him :(

So here it is Friday afternoon, just waiting for Gavin and Rick to arrive home. Not sure what the weekend will bring, nothing set in stone at this point. I'm gonna enjoy it that's for sure....

  1. Yay! You get to go down in hours! Wow, that is awesome. So, just one more month of this icky stuff, you can do it. Now you don't have to suffer through being there everyday in the summer!

congrats on the cut in hours. Hopefully it's because you wanted it and not because he doesn't want you on the unit that often -hahahah. Just playin' dawg!
