When I found out last weekend that our daughter Brianna and her hubby Chris were gonna be heading up to the cities to hang out with Brice and Jenny my ears perked up and my MOM(ness) kicked in.
Off to Walmart I went to buy (just a few) groceries for my son Brice. I can't stand the thought of him not eating well and I know he doesnt like to ask for money. The marshmallows in the forground are kind of a joke. When ever I send Brice a care-package I always throw in something "random".
4 yrs ago I let my 18 yr old boy move into an apartment with another 18 yr old boy in St paul MN. He had never wrote a check (let alone pay a bill), never really cooked a meal and wasn't familar with the "big city". I remember the day we took him up. Brice and his dad in one car and me in the other. Good thing cuz I pretty much cried all the way up to St paul. It was a scary time for me. He seemed so young and I couldnt really believe Rick and I were letting our boy go off on this atypical college adventure
The college Brice chose to attend (above) College of Visual Arts, doesn't provide student housing (It's a very small School). I knew Brice could handle it, I never doubted it, but I couldnt help but worry about these two young boys men being out on their own when most college freshmen are safley tucked away in a secure dorm with hot meals provided. Four years later at age 22, Brice is a more mature and stronger young man. He drives around the cities like hes lived there all of his life and he's happy and thriving in the "big city". Remember, I said I knew he could do it....and he did. We are proud parent of this awesome young man who will Graduate in a few short months.
So back to the groceries.... I still worry that he's not eating right :)
oh Mama, must be hard to let your kids go do their thing, Brice has done very good :) Love you! I don't think you'll ever stop making sure we all have groceries, heehee.
ReplyDeleteThat is a mothers job. To have kids and then worry about them til the end of time. I still do worry about my kids and also my grandkids. I soon will have a greatgrandkid and will worry about her too.Love you all so much.
ReplyDeleteYou're a good Mom. It seems that it is a mother's "job" to worry about the well-being of her children. Of course Brice finds things to eat...but having heathly "good" food in the house sure makes eating easier...and less costly. We love having Bricey up here int he cities with us...thanks for letting him come here!
ReplyDeleteOh Mom. You're such a worrier!
ReplyDeleteGood thing you give the kids food too...or they could starve to death
