One of my all time favorite festivals of the summer.
Marigold days in Mantorville, MN
I used to take one, two or all three of my kids to this, but I remember my Brice liked Marigold days alot, and he would for sure be with me every year. I taught him how to haggle the price down when he was about 8 or 9 and he got himself a "real cool" bat mobile (that his brother later lost a part of it)
He was pretty proud of himself, and so was his mama.
This year my mom came along, we had a good time as usual looking around, checking things out, getting idea's and people watching :)
There are always lots of antiques
a fishing contest at the dam was happening
Crafts galore, This snowman was painted on a screen door....cute idea
Tents with sellers and their goods everywhere
I thought this was clever, they used childrens shoes to plant
"Hen & Chicks" plant. So cute!
Pretty little bottles...
...and this super cool bike.
A souped-up stingray with banana seat and high handle bars.
Back in the day you considered pretty cool is you had one of these!
Did you have one?
I did! It sure looks like it was a great day. I'd love to browse all of those goods!
ReplyDeleteOK, so now you've totally convinced me that next year I need to attend Marigold Days. I love charming Mantorville with all its old buildings.
ReplyDeleteAs for the banana seat bike, I never had one, but we found one for our girls at a garage sale and later sold it at a garage sale to someone who collected banana seat bikes. Wish we wouldn't have sold it now...
Marigold days is always the weekend after Labor day, I think you would love it. Plan to eat at the Hubble house if you've never been there.
DeleteI ate at the Hubbard House many, many, many years ago. Randy and I spent a day in Mantorville two years ago just walking around town, visiting the shops, etc. Such a fun day. I especially like the post office, of all places. You should go in there and see the beautiful old post office boxes.
DeleteLove Marigold Days! Had too much going on this weekend to get there. Saved me a few sheckels by not going I suppose :) Did you get anything?
ReplyDeleteJust looked this year Cheri. Walked away empty handed :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun day. I love to look at all the old tooles. It brings back the memories of using them when I grew up on the farm.
ReplyDeleteI had a pink bike like that when I was a kid. Used to ride my sister on the handle bars all the time:)
ReplyDeleteI forgot all about riding on the handle bars.... We did that too!
DeleteThat does look like a fun festival, we'll have to hit that one up next year!
ReplyDeleteI was there on Saturday afternoon all by my loneliness. Rick was in Mabel. I didn't see you two!
ReplyDeleteWe went right away in the morning Cindy. I'm still jealous of your cute little nesting measuring cups...what a great find!
DeleteI didn't go to marigold days, but something in me wishes i had. :(
ReplyDeletedon't want to nit-pick, but did you know that you used the curse word "damn" instead of "dam" for the fishing picture? hehe...it's just a minor slip. a funny one! i LOL'd.
miss you lots n lots!
Oops. Thanks MJ.... I changed it immediately (didnt mean to swear)
