One of the neat things about the array of social media's on-line is the
fun crafty projects, things that catch my attention and look interesting to try.
Things that I would have never come up with on my own....I'm just not that creative.
My latest project showed up on my facebook "timeline" the other day.
A Bird-seed wreath
(the photo is from a Pinterest posting)
Who better to share a fun craft with than my sweet granddaughter :)
Here's the recipe we used...
BIRD SEED WREATH RECIPE
1 package plain Knox gelatin
3/4 C. Flour
1/2 C warm water
3 T. light corn syrup
4 C. bird seed
First, mix the top 4 ingredients together
then add the 4 C. bird seed
stir all together...
Put it into a greased bundt pan
(pack it down with your fingers)
and let it dry for 48 hours....
There you have it
Tie some kind of fabric, ribbon or raffia to the wreath
and it's ready to hang up outside for the birdies to enjoy!
I think we did pretty good,
I left the hanging up to Audrey and her mamma.....
They posted this photo today
hanging from the tree in their front yard.
Now I just hope the birds find it before the squirrels :)
Very neat I'm going to make one too.
ReplyDeleteDo it mom....it's fun!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! What a fun idea:)
ReplyDeleteJen it would be fun for you and Luke to do together....great gifts for the Grandma's :)
DeleteI think we found a perfect branch, now I really hope the birds come! Audrey is concerned that that horrible/mean/attack robin from last summer is going to come back for the bird seed wreath, haha! Love this fun project! Thanks Mom!
ReplyDeleteIt took awhile for the birds to find my feeder, so be patient. I hope the wind doesn't whip it into oblivion today! Audrey told me the other day that the bird bit your head.....really?
ReplyDeleteWhat is this about an attack robin? Hopefully he/she has flown south for the winter.
ReplyDeleteI'm not overly fond of birds, but I love that you did this project with Audrey. You are building such great memories with her.
My daughter had a crazy bird that built a nest under their nest, everytime they were in the backyard, the bird swooped at them and wouldn't stop. They finally had to put some wire over the nest to drive the bird away so they could mow and enjoy their backyard. Im with you Audrey...not a hugh fan of birds, but the project was so worth it!
ReplyDeleteSounds just like a barn swallow, the reason I don't like birds. All that swooping down when I was working the barn scared me.
DeleteAudrey sure looks like Uncle Brice in that last pic!!
ReplyDeleteI havent heard that one yet Jac' , but she sure is a cutie like her uncle Brice!
DeleteOk, might totally have to try that! Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun project, especially with a little one :)
DeleteSuch a great project and with a very sweet cohort!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYep, she is pure sweetness :)
