Bucksnort Dam is always a stop for us as we snake our way down
South to Hwy 30 east of Chatfield

Dad is 80 and on the edge of the concrete dam,
"ummmm, Dad why don't your come on back over here"
We saw plenty of amish buggies on the roads
The wagon factory where my great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather worked,
It's where they landed when they came over from Norway, Rushford MN
There will always be the ceremonial cemetery visits
I just really liked this little two lane gravel path that went through the cemetery.
A one-of-a-kind headstone.
Pretty little church in Houston MN
Gotta have cows in the country!
and old buildings that are falling apart,
perhaps it was once a school.

Just a very few miles from our place!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSome day Doreen...some day. We usually go on a spontaneous note and there's not much planning involved. I will surprise you one day with a visit!
DeleteDamn. Hehe ... I think you mean "dam". So not like you Miss Jackie ! Made me smile. Also, I think I've been to that cemetery! So cool that you can go back in time ... and place to see where your roots started their US journey!
ReplyDeleteHa ha Cheri, good catch! I fixed it, thanks for the heads up! It never gets old, Dad has lots of stories, I don't think I've heard any of them twice.
DeleteThat is by far the most unique gravestone I've seen.
ReplyDeleteI loved this tour. I need to get some specific directions from you sometime on backroads to follow. You find the most lovely rural sites.
My Dad is my guide, I only hope I can remember how to get to all these places some day...when it's just me. I'm pretty sure you've been very near, cuz I know you've been to Lenora which is in the "neighborhood"
