A mix of photography, recipes, personal thoughts, faith, and lots of family stuff, but not necessarily in that order.

A week of Celebration and Sorrow

Last Sunday us 4 siblings gathered at our mom and dad's houseTo celebrate our mom's soon to be 84th birthday

Us four kids bring home cooked food, like Mom used to make when we were growing up. We sit at our perspective places around the table and visit, us kids poking fun at each other, while mom and dad "put up with our bantering like we did when we were kids" . We talk about our families and reminisce about days gone by.

My big brother even made the Angel food cake with mom's made-from-scratch frosting.
This is the same cake mom always made us for our birthdays growing up.
We are thankful to still have our mom & dad, we certainly don't take it for granted
as many of our friends can't say the same, we are blessed!
Happy Birthday Mom, you are loved!

Five days later we were saying good bye to Rick's mom,

She had been failing as of late, and we knew her time here on earth was waning. She slipped into the arms of Jesus last Friday morning, with family at her bedside.
She was ready, but our hearts were not.
You will be missed "Mom".

She will be laid to rest on Tuesday next to her beloved husband Wayne who went before her just 16 month ago. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we mourn the loss of Joanne,
yet celebrate the woman she was and the life she lived.

  1. My dearest Jackie, I am deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved MIL, Rick's mom. I know how much you all loved her. And even though her health was failing, this doesn't make the loss any less. May God comfort you and your family and bless you with His peace as you grieve. Hugs and love.
