A mix of photography, recipes, personal thoughts, faith, and lots of family stuff, but not necessarily in that order.

Four Years ago today......

September 15, 2015

The day we signed the papers and this little gem on the lake became ours.
We had no intention on buying this cabin as it was way above our price range.
We knew we wanted a place on Long Lake, (the lake has a lot of history with our family)
and we had been up lookin at a couple other cabins.
While we were in the area, we decided to go drive by the cabin we couldn't have.
The owner... a retired minister, showed up at the drivers side window while we looked at the lake from the public access road next to his cabin......the rest is history.
God had his hand on this transaction, we are thankful, grateful and blessed!

As Dick (former owner) walked us into the cabin, this is the first this we saw as we
went through the kitchen to the dining room. I remember looking at Rick and thinking what is happening here. Remember this is a cabin we couldn't afford to even look at.

We told Dick that we would not be able to afford this beautiful place, and that we couldn't offer what we knew it was worth. His reply was.... lets just talk, start with an offer, you will not offend me.
It was a "God thing" that I am sure of.
After much thought and prayers and lots of discussions,
we settled on a price and he assured us that he wanted the cabin to remain in the "Family"

4 years later and we still pinch ourselves, and can't believe it's ours

Today, Rick and I went to church and just spent the day at the cabin.
We went on a boat ride and reminisced about the last 4 years.

We agreed that having people here to share our little piece of heaven was one of the best parts,
we also love our boat rides and spending time together.

*"TIME" surprises us as the summer goes so fast!

*We love our neighbors!

*So many good people surrounding us...
(including the ones who ran up beside our boat today on the lake and raced us....we let them win).
The Fields

When I'm at our little cabin on the lake, I feel like I don't have a care in the world.

Rick seems busy with projects, but he likes that.

We enjoy having our sweet family all together at one time, It's my favorite thing ever.

Friends around the fire for S'mores.

Time is winding down, and we will soon tuck the cabin in for the winter, but before that
we have a few more visits to enjoy this beautiful home away from home.
